Outward Faces
When only 3% of Executives disclose that they have a disability or are the primary caregiver to a person with a disability, how can the employees ever feel comfortable disclosing their own? How many people are projecting an outward face of being “fine” when they are instead crumbling behind the mask and afraid to ask for the supports they need? What does it take for a company to move beyond saying they are inclusive and actually turn it into a substantial strength and financial benefit? We will tear down the myths, explore the benefits, and improve the supports your company provides. Let’s break the shackles of fear, outdated hiring practices, and ableist beliefs. Let’s remove the masks and share who we are behind the Outward Faces.

CJ’s Life with ME
In May 2012, I went to bed seemingly healthy, only to wake up feeling unwell. I has never recovered. What was initially a virus morphed into an neuro-immune disease called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. This illness has left me bed bound most of the day which means holding a traditional job is impossible. That said, I is an award winning International Keynote Speaker, a Reinvention & Resilience Coach, Owner of Beyond{dis}, a #1 International Best-Selling author, a Founder of START OVER MOVEMENT HOLDINGS LTD, The Creator and Producer of {dis}ABILITIES Unleashed, a Certified Chief Well-Being Officer, a Singer/Songwriter, and so much more!
“Choose to live Joyfully within the tempest of adversity.”

What is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis?
According to the CDC, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is a biological illness that affects many body parts. It causes severe fatigue not improved by rest, problems thinking and sleeping, dizziness, pain, and many other symptoms.
People with ME may not look sick but can’t do their normal activities. ME may get worse after they do any activity — physical or mental. This symptom is called post-exertional malaise (PEM). After they exert themselves, they may need to stay in bed for an extended time. About 1 in 4 people with ME are confined to bed at some point in their illness.
It is difficult to diagnose because there is no specific test for. One reason that people with ME have not been diagnosed may be limited access to healthcare. Another reason may be a lack of healthcare providers who know about ME and how to recognize it.
The 4 main symptoms of ME are:
Symptoms getting worse after physical or mental activity, and possibly taking weeks to get better (also called post-exertional malaise, or PEM).
Feeling extremely tired all the time (fatigue), which can make daily activities like taking a shower, or going to work or school, difficult.
Sleep problems, including insomnia, sleeping too much, feeling like you have not slept properly and feeling exhausted or stiff when you wake up. Problems with thinking, concentration and memory (brain fog).
